Recognizing the need to expand, F.E. Moran Fire Protection, Northern Illinois division opened the F.E. Moran Fire Protection, Central Illinois branch in June 2001. F.E. Moran Fire Protection, Central Illinois division quickly became known as the company of choice for fire protection outside the metro Chicago area, providing expert knowledge and excellent customer service.

By 2007, F.E. Moran Fire Protection established itself as an individual entity and transitioned into a subsidiary of The F.E. Moran Group of Companies known as F.E. Moran Fire Protection National. Since then, it has become the recognized leader in fire protection solutions for the residential, commercial, retail, industrial, healthcare and education industries, and has done work in most states from coast to coast.

F.E. Moran Special Hazard Systems is an industry leader in providing power generating, chemical processing, and heavy-industry facilities with reliable, cost-effective fire protection solutions. With experience that spans five decades, F.E. Moran Special Hazard Systems has unparalleled knowledge and expertise, allowing it to deliver the most effective system for every facility’s specific environment.

In the late 1970s, F.E. Moran Fire Protection was contracted to provide fire protection for coal conveyor systems for Commonwealth Edison, Sunflower Electric and Republic Steel plants. After recognizing the need to develop a company with the expertise to provide specialized solutions for these unique environments, F.E. Moran Special Hazard Systems was formed in 1979.

This company reopened in 1957 after closing during World War II, and plumbing services were added in 1970. F.E. Moran is a full-service mechanical contractor, providing heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems to commercial, education, healthcare, industrial manufacturing, retail and residential facilities. F.E. Moran seamlessly integrates HVAC systems into new buildings and tenant improvement projects. The team executes projects with dependable planning, sound design and on-schedule delivery.

F.E. Moran’s tenant improvement division is skilled in designing HVAC systems that smoothly join with existing systems. The team focuses on tight seams and efficient design to minimize energy costs. F.E. Moran operates in-house pipe and sheet metal fabrication shops to provide cost savings, improve quality and safety, and reduce production interruptions. Once the HVAC systems are installed, F.E. Mechanical Services takes care of them by providing inspection, testing and maintenance services.

This division was established in 1988 as Thermodyne Mechanical Services. Renamed in 2007 as F.E. Moran Mechanical Services, it enhanced The F.E. Moran Group of Companies by providing another arm of HVAC and building automation services. F.E. Moran Mechanical Services installs, maintains, and repairs complex HVAC and building automation systems for commercial, industrial, institutional, agricultural, pharmaceutical, and medical facilities.

F.E. Moran Mechanical Services provides every customer with a top-quality, highly trained service technician. Our technical support system, through our supervisory structure, is unique to F.E. Moran Mechanical Services. We maintain a comprehensive internal supervisory staff made up of the finest senior technicians who provide technical support to all service operations on a day-to-day basis. F.E. Moran Mechanical Services was the first mechanical services contractor in the country to earn the Mechanical Service Contractors of America (MSCA) UA S.T.A.R. Certification.

This company was incorporated in 2019 to focus on complex refrigeration systems that are critical to facility and plant performance. Refrigeration projects demand that stringent attention be paid to safety. When beginning a refrigeration project, we evaluate all stages of planning and scheduling to ensure adherence to the highest safety standards. Our goal is to protect our people as well as the customer’s personnel and worksite with an emphasis on safety, innovation, energy efficiency, and sustainability with low/no GWP refrigerants.  The core team alone has over 100+ years specifically in industrial and commercial refrigeration, completing the largest and most complex refrigeration systems in Chicagoland.

This division designs and engineers even the most complex industrial refrigeration system. Every new or retrofitted system is designed to operate safely and dependably, helping our customers reduce unplanned downtime. F.E. Moran Refrigeration ensures that our customers’ refrigeration systems are in compliance with all relevant codes. Our specialized refrigeration technicians also provide preventive and predictive maintenance, tests and inspections, system control upgrades, energy and efficiency audits, and repair services.

F.E. Moran Industrial, also established in 2020, focuses on mechanical construction and piping for industrial manufacturing facilities. We prioritize safety, quality and productivity while maintaining the integrity of our customers’ schedules and budgets. We specialize in pipe prefabrication, process and power piping, and plant services and maintenance.

This team has a reputation for excellence and our customers benefit from high-quality work on every industrial piping project, regardless of size or complexity. From pre-construction and installation to maintenance and emergency repairs, this company handles it all. Our customers are concentrated in the refining and petrochemical, chemical, power generation, industrial manufacturing, pharmaceutical and biotech, and wastewater treatment industries.
