Ken built his career on technical expertise, leadership, and an unshakable commitment to the fire protection industry. He didn’t start in leadership—he earned his place through years of hands-on experience, problem-solving, and a relentless focus on building teams that deliver at the highest level.

Ken began his career by earning a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Illinois, laying a solid foundation for his career journey. He began as an entry-level designer in the early 90's and continued to specialize in fire protection design, mastering the intricacies of complex life safety systems.

His profound technical expertise and ability to perform under pressure propelled him into operations management, where he managed large-scale projects and led field teams through some of the industry’s toughest challenges. Ken’s leadership has been crucial in advancing fire protection technology, ensuring that F.E. Moran remains at the forefront of evolving industry regulations and safety standards. He is a strong advocate for nurturing talent within the fire protection division, mentoring team members to become experts in complex system design and implementation.

Under his leadership, Fire Protection in Northern Illinois and Northwest Indiana has expanded its reach, refined its operations, and continued to lead the industry in fire suppression, alarms, and life safety solutions. Ken is passionate about mentoring the next generation, ensuring that every new leader at F.E. Moran understands the value of hands-on experience, continuous learning, and an uncompromising standard of excellence.

FAMILY AND ENJOYMENT OUTSIDE OF WORK

I have been fortunate to be married to my best friend, Sue, for 39 years. Together, we have raised three wonderful children—Eric (Rebecca), Katie (Jared), and Matt—and are proud grandparents to five amazing grandchildren: Logan, Alec, Harper, Henry, and Nova. In our spare time, we love the outdoors, especially “glamping” in our travel trailer with family and friends. Family is everything to us, though I also make time for some personal hobbies—spending occasional weekends as a gearhead working on my big-block Chevelle keeps me young at heart.
