Like so many leaders at F.E. Moran, his path to the C-suite wasn’t a straight line—it was built through experience, adaptability, and a relentless focus on problem-solving.

Joe started his career in public accounting, and he quickly realized that he wanted something different—a role where he could truly be part of building something meaningful and special.

In 2002, he joined F.E. Moran as our Controller, diving deep into the company’s financial operations, reporting, and strategic planning. Just two years later, in 2004, he was promoted to CFO, a role he has held ever since.

Unlike a traditional corporate finance leader, Joe’s approach is hands-on and integrative—he views himself as an advisor and peer to the company’s business leaders. His philosophy is straightforward: "If there’s a number involved, it likely passes through me." Yet, it’s not only about numbers—Joe is dedicated to ensuring that financial decisions support the long-term success of the company, its employees, and its culture. Joe’s financial oversight has been vital in balancing aggressive company growth with lasting fiscal stability, making sure that F.E. Moran stays financially sound. His ability to implement data-driven financial strategies has facilitated smarter decision-making across all business units, optimizing both operational costs and profitability.

Over the years, Joe has played a critical role in shaping F.E. Moran’s financial strategy, ensuring that as the company grew fivefold, its foundation remained strong. He has helped implement new financial systems, optimized operational efficiencies, and ensured that every business unit remains financially sound. His ability to blend financial expertise with a deep understanding of Moran’s unique culture has made him a trusted leader and an invaluable part of the company’s long-term vision.

FAMILY AND ENJOYMENT OUTSIDE OF WORK

For Joe, family is everything. He and his wife, Melissa, share a full and vibrant home with their four children—Samantha, Alexandra, and twins Nicholas and Zachary. Outside of work, Joe is an avid sports fan, holding season tickets for the Bears and embracing the camaraderie of tailgating. When he’s not aspiring to sharpen his golf game, he enjoys simply putzing around the house, finding joy in the little projects that make a house feel like home.
